Does an FD-258 Fingerprint Card Include an FBI Background Report?

Separate what you hold from what you need

After a cards appointment, you may have a physical card ready for a specified next step. That is a different deliverable from a report issued after an accepted request has been processed. Avoid describing the card as your “FBI clearance” when speaking to a foreign recipient or a licensing organization.

If the recipient asks for a report, find the wording of that request. A general instruction to provide fingerprints may instead belong to an agency-controlled screening process. Clarify the document name before ordering additional services.

Questions that define a report-support service

Discuss the following before paying for a service described as more than cards. The answers should identify the actual route, rather than rely on a product label.

• Is the order capture only, cards only or a supported report request?
• Is the proposed route available for my applicant category, location and purpose?
• Who handles the next stage, and what charges are included?
• What result and delivery method are part of the agreed service?

If the cards are already completed

Tell Oraz Fingerprinting before booking another capture. Explain which form you have, when the fingerprints were taken and who needs the final document. Do not send images of the fingerprints through a general enquiry form. First ask whether the existing cards can fit an available process.

A new appointment should have a stated reason. It should not be added automatically just because you are asking a different company for help.

If you also need an apostille

Ask about the route from an appropriate issued report to its later certification. The international document need should be reviewed separately from the card order. Request a package quote based on what is already complete, with translation and shipping discussed only where needed.
