Quick answers before you book

What Should You Bring to a Florida Live Scan Appointment?

Bring the identification your program requires, the correct ORI and the requesting agency’s instructions. Do not assume one photo ID is sufficient for every Florida screening: DBPR specifically calls for two forms of identification, with a photo and signature on one. Confirm the requirements for your own program with the provider before your visit.

Florida Live Scan Cost: Why the ORI Can Affect Your Quote

A useful Florida Live Scan quote starts with the correct ORI and program. FDLE provides an ORI fee lookup, while providers set their own service totals. Ask what the quoted amount includes. A low advertised capture price may not describe the entire screening service you were asked to complete.

Read the answer →

Live Scan Appointment Time vs. Background Screening Time

A Live Scan appointment covers fingerprint capture and the service arranged with the provider. It is separate from processing the submission and from the receiving agency’s final review. When someone gives you a turnaround estimate, ask which of those stages it describes and when the clock starts. Booking a quick visit does not guarantee a same-day background decision or license approval.

FDLE TCN Not Found: What to Check Before Paying Again

If the FDLE transaction lookup cannot find your TCN, first compare the complete number with the original receipt and confirm with the provider that the relevant submission was made. A missing lookup result alone does not establish that you need new fingerprints or another payment. Keep the existing transaction details while the provider and requesting organization clarify what is missing.

Can You Mail My Completed FD-258 Fingerprint Cards Within the U.S.?

Oraz Fingerprinting can arrange shipping of completed FD-258 fingerprint cards within the United States. Start with the receiving agency’s instructions: the form, number of originals, mailing address and required accompanying documents must match your request. Mailing the cards is a separate service from ordering a background check or paying an agency fee. Ask for the card service and shipping to be quoted clearly before your visit.

Healthcare & medical licenses

DOH/MQA, professional boards, initial applications and renewals.

Beauty, aesthetics & massage

Identify the credential behind the service: cosmetology, massage or a healthcare license.

Botox, injectables and medical aesthetics

Start with the practitioner’s healthcare license and current DOH requirements. A cosmetic procedure name does not identify an ORI or establish that a new fingerprint submission is needed.

Lashes, nails and cosmetology

Identify the actual cosmetology registration and application route before paying for fingerprinting. A salon job or criminal-history question does not by itself establish a fingerprint requirement.

Daycare, schools & children’s programs

Employees, owners, home daycare, camps, teacher certification and school contractors.

Volunteers & nonprofits

Requirements depend on the organization, role and program; volunteering alone does not select a route.

Real estate & property licenses

Sales associates, brokers, appraisers and community association managers.

Contractors & construction licenses

Contractor licensing, home inspection and mold assessment or remediation.

Healthcare employment & caregiving

AHCA, Medicaid, home health, assisted living, APD and elder-care programs.

Other business & professional licenses

Find the exact program; some licenses restrict which fingerprint provider you can use.

Asked for an ORI number? Find it after you identify the program.

An ORI helps route a Florida agency request. Confirm it with your employer or licensing body. It is a supporting detail, not a service you need to choose before understanding your situation.
