What does the home inspector license cover?

A home inspector examines a home’s condition for the service described by the applicable licensing rules. DBPR’s FAQ distinguishes licensing the individual from licensing a home inspection business. Start with the applicant’s own examination or endorsement route; do not assume registering a company completes the professional requirement.

Does experience in another state remove the fingerprint step?

DBPR describes background-check requirements for its home inspector application routes. Holding an out-of-state credential does not by itself establish that a Florida fingerprint submission is already complete. Use the current endorsement checklist if that is your route, and ask the department what evidence it requires rather than reusing an unrelated background report.

Where do fingerprints fit among the other requirements?

Fingerprints are one item alongside the application’s education or experience, examination, insurance and other conditions. A provider cannot evaluate or waive those conditions. Submit information in the sequence required by the current application, and keep a record showing the profession for which the fingerprints were sent. A construction or mold license is a separate purpose.
