Ink Fingerprints vs. Digitally Printed Cards: Will Your Agency Accept Them?

The receiving agency’s instructions determine the acceptable method. “Digital fingerprints” can describe capture on a scanner, a printed physical card or an electronic submission; those are not the same deliverable. Confirm which method and output your recipient accepts before choosing an appointment. Do not assume a modern device makes every route interchangeable.

Ask about the output as well as the capture

An ink appointment records impressions on a physical form. A digital capture can have a different agreed output. Ask whether you will leave with completed cards, whether an electronic request will be submitted, or whether both are expressly part of the order.

If you need a card, verify its form and physical format. If you need an electronic agency submission, verify the program and its instructions. A scanner being present does not, by itself, answer either question.

Acceptance belongs to the specific process

For direct personal Identity History Summary requests, the FBI describes both ink and live-scan-derived hard copy. That guidance does not establish another recipient’s acceptance rules.

When an employer, licensing board or foreign authority specifies a method, keep that instruction and show it to the provider. If it says “ink only” or names a particular format, ask before substituting a digitally produced card. If the wording is ambiguous, get clarification from the recipient rather than relying on a general comparison online.

What to ask the provider

Before booking with Oraz Fingerprinting, explain your recipient’s requirements and confirm the actual service available.

  • Can the office provide the required capture method and card form?
  • Does the recipient accept that exact output?
  • How many completed originals are included?
  • Is there a separate submission or report-support service?
  • What are the agreed next steps if print quality is questioned?

Avoid choosing by a promised report speed

A physical card and an electronically submitted request have different downstream steps. Do not select a cards appointment because you saw an electronic report estimate elsewhere. First choose an accepted route, then ask about its own processing and delivery estimates. No capture method removes the receiving authority’s review.
