Plan the visit separately

Ask the office how much time to allow for check-in, document review, capture and any required photograph. Confirm what you need to bring and whether your program requires registration before arrival. The scan itself is only part of the visit.

Tell the office if you have a group, more than one request or additional fingerprint cards. A duration suitable for one routine appointment should not be assumed to cover several services.

Submission and review are later stages

After capture, keep the receipt and TCN for the relevant submission. These help identify the transaction when following up. An available appointment and an identifiable transaction are useful milestones, but neither establishes a completed agency determination.

Official AHCA guidance explains that a screening may remain in process while additional review or requested information is outstanding. The next action may therefore belong to the agency or applicant rather than to the fingerprinting technician.

Describe your deadline precisely

Say whether you must attend a fingerprint appointment, show submission information or have a completed screening by the deadline. Ask the requesting organization what proof it accepts. These distinctions matter when arranging a start date or submitting a license application.

Avoid treating a general website estimate as a guarantee for your particular case. Confirm the current expected timing for the program and allow for any follow-up requirements.

A useful follow-up question

If a deadline is approaching, ask: “Has the submission been made, can the transaction be identified, and what part is still pending?” Contact the original provider about capture or transmission and the requesting agency about its review.
