Your next step
Confirm the requested service before arranging a visit. A question or quote request is not a confirmed appointment.
Before the appointment: the agency instructions
The practical question before fingerprinting is where the request belongs. Have the confirmed ORI and any other required program information ready. A number from an earlier appointment is not automatically a substitute for the instructions for a new application.
If your employer says only “send the number,” ask whether they are supplying the screening route or requesting proof of a completed submission. Those are different moments in the process.
After submission: the transaction reference
Keep the receipt and the complete TCN associated with the appointment. Official Florida guidance uses the TCN for transaction-status lookup. When copying it, use the original receipt rather than a shortened note or a cropped screenshot.
If more than one submission was made, label your records with the relevant date and program. Providing a real TCN for the wrong transaction can still leave the employer unable to match the screening they requested.
A status is not an employment decision
A transaction update helps locate the submission; it does not tell you that every step in the receiving organization’s process is finished. Ask the employer or licensing office what it needs to match and review your application.
Avoid presenting a receipt as a personal criminal-history report. An agency screening and a personal FBI report serve different purposes and may be delivered through different processes.
How to explain your question to the office
A clear question is: “I completed fingerprinting on this date for this organization. Do you need the TCN from that submission, or different application information?” Have the receipt and agency message ready when contacting the original provider.
For a future Oraz Fingerprinting visit, use the main website’s service information. The ORI reference page helps you read the routing information but does not retrieve a transaction or send a status request.
Questions about this topic
Can I put my TCN in the ORI field?
No. They identify different things. Use the agency’s confirmed submission instructions and the actual transaction reference in their respective places.
Will an employer receive my results just because I send a TCN?
A TCN can help identify a transaction. It does not by itself establish that an organization is authorized to receive or has reviewed the results.
I lost my receipt. Can I use my ORI to find my personal TCN?
Ask the original provider for the relevant transaction reference. An ORI is not a unique identifier for your individual submission.
