Who needs fingerprinting? Jobs & licenses

Do You Need Fingerprinting for a Florida Real Estate Sales Associate License?

Yes. Florida’s real estate sales associate application includes a fingerprint-based background check. A sales associate works under a broker or owner-developer; this is a professional licensing request, not a personal FBI report. DBPR’s current checklist says to submit the license application before the fingerprints. Completing the scan does not itself approve your exam or license.

What do sales associate, FREC and DBPR mean?

A sales associate is the entry-level Florida real estate license category commonly called a real estate agent. FREC is the Florida Real Estate Commission; DBPR is the Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Use the official Sales Associate application checklist for your route, including any recognition or endorsement provisions, rather than instructions from a different state or a broker upgrade.

When should you arrange the appointment?

Coordinate the scan with your application. DBPR’s published direction places the application first and fingerprint submission immediately afterward. A course-completion certificate, exam reservation and fingerprint receipt are different records. Keep all three where applicable, and do not assume a real estate school has submitted fingerprints merely because it helped with the application.

What should you bring and confirm?

Bring the application instructions, the profession-specific ORI confirmed by DBPR, and the identification required by the program. DBPR asks for two forms of identification, one with photo and signature. Tell the technician you are applying as a sales associate, not for an appraisal, CAM or another property-related license. Those descriptions can lead to different submissions.

How do you follow up after the scan?

Keep your receipt and Transaction Control Number, or TCN. If DBPR reports missing fingerprints, ask the original provider to verify the submission details before paying again. A transaction marked complete does not mean your license is approved. For a Hallandale Beach appointment, show Oraz Fingerprinting the official request so the team can confirm the appropriate capture service and availability.

Does your program ask for an ORI?

Identify the requesting program first. Use the directory as a reference and confirm the correct value with the organization before submission.

Questions about this topic

Can I use a personal FBI report instead?

No. Follow the DBPR licensing submission process; a personal FBI document does not complete that request.

Does passing the real estate course complete fingerprinting?

No. Education, the license application, fingerprints and exam requirements are separate steps.

Must I be fingerprinted again at every renewal?

Do not assume that. Read the requirements for your actual renewal or additional application before purchasing a new scan.
