Which Fingerprints Are Needed for a Florida Yacht or Ship Broker License?

Which maritime role are you applying for?

Identify whether your application is for a salesperson, broker or employing broker. DBPR’s Yacht and Ships licensing information describes these roles within its own program. Working at a marina or on a vessel does not by itself make you a yacht broker applicant; the requested professional activity and application control.

Are cards and Live Scan both mentioned?

DBPR’s published licensing page describes a fingerprint card or an FDLE-registered Livescan provider as routes in the yacht salesperson application context. That does not mean any card, vendor or submission purpose is acceptable without following the application. Ask which route you will use, which document must accompany it and who receives the submission.

What should you clarify before the appointment?

Have the Yacht and Ships application title, the applicant’s role and confirmed routing information ready. Bring any card or instructions the program supplied. If your request comes from outside Florida, clarify the accepted card and processing route before paying for collection or shipping. Mailing a card to an arbitrary service provider does not complete the licensing step.

How should you coordinate the rest of the application?

Fingerprinting is separate from the application’s bonding, affiliation and other professional conditions. A clean or completed transaction does not approve those parts. Keep your receipt and transaction reference for follow-up with the provider and the Yacht and Ships section.
