Who Needs Fingerprinting for a Family Day Care Home?

A family day care home is a home-based childcare setting with its own licensing or registration requirements. DCF’s registered-home guidance identifies screening for the operator, adult household members and substitutes. The home’s licensing contact should confirm who needs fingerprinting and which other household checks apply before appointments are arranged.

Why do household members matter?

The screening process is connected to care provided inside a residence, not only to a payroll list. A person living in the home may need to be considered even if they do not describe themselves as an employee. Give the licensing contact the actual household composition and planned substitutes so no one is overlooked during the application.

Are all ages screened in the same way?

No. Do not turn a household-screening instruction into a blanket requirement that every child or teenager must provide fingerprints. Age, household status and the applicable home category can change the check required. Ask the licensing contact to identify the requirement for each person rather than applying an adult instruction to everyone in the residence.

What comes before capture?

DCF’s registered-home instructions describe preliminary application and Clearinghouse access steps. Those steps belong to the provider’s licensing process and should be coordinated before people are sent for scans. Family day care and large family child care homes should follow their respective instructions. Keep screening records with the application; capture alone does not register or license the business.

What should you confirm before fingerprinting?

Ask the requesting organization for its current screening instructions, any required registration and the identifiers for your application. ORI identifies the agency route; an OCA may identify the organization within a particular program. Bring the requested identification. For a Hallandale Beach visit, show Oraz Fingerprinting those instructions so the team can confirm the available service before booking.

Does your program ask for an ORI?

Identify the requesting program first. Use the directory as a reference and confirm the correct value with the organization before submission.
