FBI Fingerprints Rejected: When Might You Need Another Appointment?

A rejection notice needs to be read before deciding on another appointment. A fingerprint-quality problem is different from a criminal-history result, an incomplete request or a recipient declining a document. Ask the operator handling your submission to identify the reason and the permitted next step. New capture may be needed, but it should not be prescribed automatically from the word “rejected.”

Your next step

Confirm the requested service before arranging a visit. A question or quote request is not a confirmed appointment.

Find out which stage rejected what

Keep the actual notice, date and submission reference. Explain whether it came from the FBI, a submission partner or the organization receiving your final document. Those are different points in the process.

An image-quality issue calls for a different review from incorrect application details or a recipient’s age requirement. A new fingerprint appointment cannot fix every type of problem. Avoid paying for a replacement product before the reason is clear.

What to discuss with the technician

Tell the technician about prior quality issues and bring the relevant instructions. Ask whether another capture is appropriate and what the receiving route requires. Do not edit a rejected card or alter the images yourself.

For repeated quality rejections, the FBI FAQ recommends multiple sets taken preferably by a technician. That guidance does not establish a particular company’s repeat policy or guarantee that a later submission will be accepted.

Keep personal requests separate from other programs

The FBI FAQ states that name checks are not provided for personal Identity History Summary requests. Do not apply an employer’s alternative screening procedure to a personal request simply because you saw it mentioned elsewhere.

The original submission operator should explain the route-specific instructions. If you switch providers, make clear that this concerns an existing rejection rather than a completely new request. Ask how the previous reference should be handled.

Confirm the cost and effect on your deadline

Ask whether the proposed service is recapture only, additional cards or support with a new submission. Check any repeat fees, government or partner charges, and the written service terms before paying.

Contact Oraz Fingerprinting through the FBI service page to discuss a suitable appointment. State the rejection reason and deadline without publicly sharing fingerprint images or sensitive identifiers. No free repeat, refund or fixed completion date is promised by this guide.

Questions about this topic

Does rejected fingerprint quality mean I failed the background check?

A technical capture problem and a criminal-history result are different. Read the notice to identify what actually happened.

Is another appointment always required?

No. The reason and submission instructions must be checked before deciding what needs to be repeated.

Will the repeat be free?

That depends on the provider’s applicable written terms and the issue. Confirm the cost before booking.
