Will the foreign recipient accept an FD-258?
Ask the receiving organization for its written fingerprint instructions before your appointment. It may specify its own card, a different form, a number of originals or a particular capture method. The fact that FD-258 is an FBI applicant form does not make it a universal international fingerprint document.
If the intended request is a personal FBI Identity History Summary, explain that purpose separately: the FBI publishes FD-1164 for that request. Shipping an FD-258 abroad and requesting an FBI report from abroad are different situations.
What must be confirmed for the shipment?
Provide the complete recipient name, country and current delivery address. Ask whether the destination accepts the proposed carrier or postal method and whether any application reference must accompany the cards. Check the number of people and originals in the order rather than assuming one envelope can combine every application.
International services and tracking coverage vary by destination. USPS distinguishes documents from merchandise and directs senders to country-specific rules and service availability. The team must select the appropriate option for the actual contents and destination; a generic “international shipping” label does not settle those details.
How should I plan the deadline?
Allow separately for completing the cards, handing over the shipment, international transport and the recipient’s own processing. A delivery estimate is not the date a licence or clearance will be issued. Tracking, where available, confirms transport events rather than acceptance of your application or fingerprints.
